SUMMER HOLS!

France 2024

Everybody goes on holiday in August.  Sounds great, doesn’t it?  The problem is that music is collaborative, we have to be together, in a room, struggling with words, or tuning, or broken strings, or even (yes) arguments.  So how do you do that when she’s in Turkey or he’s in Italy?!

Or, as now, when they’re in London and you’re in France - that’s me, I’m the one in France, I’m just as guilty.  I tell myself that I’m recharging the batteries, emptying my mind and readying it for great, creative thoughts.  Best way, obviously, to do that is…….to go swimming..……here…. 

Fresh water, clear, cold, very cold, and just the thing to open up those creative synapses.  

Result?

Came home with no new song, no new chord sequence, no stunning and moving lyrics.  

Just the tan.

Well, now it’s back to work.  Finally!  Lottie comes over to the studio tomorrow to work on lyrics.  Fingers crossed.

STUDIO DIARY

Sept 26th 2024 Hoping Clem will come over to listen to a demo of You Never Know, the 12th track on the new album, In the Company of Others, and talk about an electric violin part.  She texts to say she’s ill.

Sept 27th Session with Mick for Rudi and Lottie to sing harmonies on You Never Know.  Lottie sings both parts because Rudi’s ill.  Afternoon/evening session for Avvon to record drums.  He can’t because, of course, he’s ill.
